Diverse Thinking Governance Summit 2018

- M

F ollowing the launch of the Diverse Thinking Capability Audit Report of New Zealand Boardroom 2018, the Superdiversity Institute is now to hold an inaugural Diverse Thinking Governance Summit on November 19 in Auckland.

The summit will hear from top New Zealand chairs and experienced directors about why diverse thinking on boards matters to organisations and their longterm performance.

In the report, Mai Chen, founder and inaugural chair of the Superdiversity Institute for Policy, Law and Business, interviewed more than 60 key governance chairs, directors and executive search firms to assess New Zealand’s current diverse thinking capability, what we can do better, how diverse thinking directors can be more influential and how leadership needs to be taken to improve diverse thinking in New Zealand boardrooms.

She said in a statement that the Diverse Thinking Capability Audit report is a global first that explains what “diverse thinking” really means for governance, how to increase diverse thinking, the predictors of diverse thinking beyond gender and ethnicity, and how to create a diverse thinking boardroom culture and governance practice for peak performance and better decision making.

“The report is also a call to experienced directors to lead for more diverse thinking in boardrooms in the best interests of the company/organisation. Diverse thinking around the board table is essential to improving the performance of companies and organisations.”

The summit, which will be held on November 19 at Spark’s corporate New Zealand office in Auckland will discuss: • The skills that chairs need to encourage diverse thinkers amongst their board, and the skills that directors need to be diverse thinkers. • How to grow your diverse thinking capability as a

chair or director. • How diverse thinking directors can be most effective. • What is a Diverse Thinking Matrix, and how to use it

alongside a Skills Matrix. • Key criteria to measure diverse thinking on boards. • How to grow diverse thinking CEOs and senior

management. • How to grow diverse thinking throughout your

organisation.
