Hurdles to leap
Well, here we are in 2019, knocking on the door of another decade.
We trust you managed to take a break from your business responsibilities somewhere over the past month or so, because one gets the feeling that there’s a challenging year ahead for the business community.
Looking closer to home, away from world events and major international trade developments, one of the first hurdles for business owners and administrators is the switch to payday filing on April 1st. Much has been said about the state of preparedness for this significant event, but, as you can read in our payroll feature this month, it seems the payroll providers are at least confident they are ready for the switch. It’s up to business owners to ensure they’re upholding their side of the bargain, with systems in place ready for the change-over.
There are other changes coming up in the not-too-distant future too, mostly brought about through new legislation. The Holidays Act is one area due to come under the microscope. The key is to seek expert advice early on – never delay your planning process.
This month, as promised, we look at the emerging technology phenomenon that is blockchain.
You may be wondering what all the fuss is about and struggling to get your head around blockchain’s benefits to business. My hope is that our cover story unravels some of the mystery and opens your eyes to its true potential. It is still early days for such a young technology – one that has been somewhat tainted by its association with cryptocurrencies – but it holds a great deal of promise right across the business spectrum.
We kick off the year with another strong dose of business inspiration, education and information – three headings this magazine has long stood for and will continue to do so.
