So, where is HRM now?
Well, increasingly it’s now known as People and Culture, or People and Capability management and there is a reason for this. We’ve moved away from the idea of the workforce as a single entity resource. What we see now is a recognition that those in employment – in whatever field, sector, or industry – are first and foremost people. Individuals with varying skills, competencies, interests and qualifications who are working with us to make our organisation successful. At least that’s the theory and ideally would be the reality. And who is charged with ensuring that the reality can indeed match the theory? HR practitioners, that’s who.
