TIME TO UPGRADE YOUR WEALTH MINDSET

HOW DO YOU ACQUIRE A HEALTHY MINDSET? BUSINESS MENTOR AND SPEAKER DONNA GHAEMAGHAMY IS DETERMINED TO NORMALISE WEALTH FOR WOMEN.

WEALTH

When you think about money health in your business you may automatically think of things like the accounts and cashflow. But how often do you think about how healthy your money mindset is? I prefer to call it your ‘wealth mindset’ and in some cases a mind-shift is required.

Money can be a touchy subject and it’s currently very much at the forefront of people’s minds as the cost-of-living rises.

Over the past 25 years in business I have consistently found that having a wealthy mindset was critical to my personal growth and business journey.

MONEY BLOCKS AND BELIEFS

Regardless of how ‘successful’ or ‘positive’ you are, most people have what is often referred to as money blocks. So where do these come from and what can we do about it?

A large portion is from your upbringing, mainly your parents reflecting onto you their own personal beliefs and money stories. You were fed little tidbits of information that you processed and formed opinions about money, success and wealth.

CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY

Statements like ‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’, ‘You must work hard for your money, and ‘Be grateful for what you get’ might sound familiar. Then layer on top of that what you subconsciously take in from your environment.

If you are in business with the goal to be successful and yet in the back of your mind there’s a little voice whispering to you with your perceived money blocks, then you’re unintentionally sabotaging yourself and possibly your business from achieving that next level of success.

But here’s the great thing about beliefs – you can change them. You can up-level your wealth mindset at any time.

Take a moment, close your eyes and imagine if you had millions of dollars in your pocket. What would you look like – your clothes, the image, the persona?

How would you feel with all that money? What feelings arise? Excitement? Or fear?

If you’re honest with yourself, do you unintentionally relate having lots of money to thoughts such as ‘I’ll be lonely’, ‘I’ll have friends or family who will feel jealous or bad’, ‘I’ll have a huge tax bill, ‘I’ll have to work too hard and have no time for family’, ‘It’s unethical to earn so much’ or ‘More people will see my work and I’ll get found out I’m a fraud (imposter syndrome)’.

For women it can be ‘my partner might leave me if I’m more successful than them’.

You may feel that you will have to give up things to achieve your success, such as your integrity, privacy or free time. Or perhaps your kids won’t like you because you’re always working.

I suggest writing down what you see for yourself. Some thoughts you’ll be able to laugh off straight away. Others might need to be worked around to be kicked to the curb.

And when you do so, you will level up. No matter where you are right now on the wealth scale, there is always another level of success, so it’s always a recurring conversation to be had with yourself.

HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR WEALTH MINDSET

Acknowledge your money blocks (preconceptions around wealth) by writing down your thoughts about it. • Be aware of your language around money and intentionally change your words. Catch and correct yourself when you say things like ‘money is tight right now’ or ‘I’m a bit skint at the moment’. Instead say ‘I’m surrounded by opportunities’.

Connect and interact with other people who have achieved a similar, and ideally higher, level of success than you. This may not just be monetary wealth but also abundance in life. This is something I am laser-focused on in early 2023 by creating a small networking community of like-minded ‘wealthy wise women’. Visit Shemeansbusiness.com to learn more.
