COMING FROM five generations of cartoonists, Darren Blomfield is building a niche business as a corporate events cartoonist.

Darren has pursued his cartooning and illustrating ambitions for more than 35 years and is now realising his dream as a press cartoonist and event cartoonist, and continuing the Blomfield legacy.

From small intimate corporate functions to large business seminars and trade shows, he is bringing his artisan skill to a contemporary new market. Engaging with clients and customers alike, he adds a unique form of entertainment which is growing in popularity.

Darren’s clients so far have included Dolce & Gabbana, Master Electricians, NIB and Ebbett Volkswagen. He is also a published press cartoonist for the Times newspapers in East Auckland.

His ambition is to illustrate children’s books; to bring laughter and joy through the simple, engaging process of drawing.

Darren is also developing his medium by utilising modern digital technology (iPad and Wacom tablet) and wants to specialise in live presentation drawing, by illustrating in real-time for speakers at seminars.

For Darren it’s all about “following the dream”.
