MEGUIARS COFFEE & CARS

A relaxed Sunday morning outing for owners of classics, hot rods, exotics, JDM’s and special cars to display their machinery and for visitors to enjoy the spectacle of rare and beautiful vehicles. A free family-friendly carmeet in a relaxed and casual environmen­t with food, drinks and plenty of activities to enjoy. All types of vehicles are welcomed, as long as they fit the criteria or can considered as rare. Access to the venue is via the Maurice Road entrance to Mt Smart.

CAFFEINE AND GASOLINE

Owners of all types of cars gather to show off their cars and talk about their automobile­s over coffee. Caffeine and Gasoline is the sister event to the now famous Caffeine and Classics. All cars, enthusiast­s and spectators welcome. Grab a coffee from Aoraki Coffee Roasters and talk everything cars! 10am-1pm.

NORTH CANTERBURY CLASSIC GATHERING

WHEN: LAST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH WHERE: BETTER HALF KITCHEN & BAR, SH1 LEITHFIELD

Open to all vintage, classic and muscle cars, as well as hot rods, motorcycle­s, caravans, boats, etc. Food and drink available in café. Normal gravel carpark for spectators – or park in Ashworths Beach Road and walk in. Free entry for all. Only alcohol purchased at the bar may be consumed on the premises, no BYO. No smoking and no dogs. Due to the nature of the grounds all above must be strictly adhered to.

AUCKLAND BRIT & EURO CLASSIC CAR SHOW

The sixth Auckland Brit & Euro Classic Car Show will be the largest yet with an estimated 1000 classic cars expected to be on display as well as a good collection of classic motorcycle­s. As always the show offers free entry to the public. Organisers believe that the Auckland Brit & Euro Classic Car Show is likely to be the largest classic car show of its kind in Australasi­a.

THE CLASSIC ALPINE TOUR: NORTH ISLAND TOUR

WHERE: NORTH ISLAND

After three successful tours in the south of the South Island, requests to hold a North Island event have now been confirmed, with the inaugural North Island Tour planned for March 17-20. A 700km route throughout the central North Island will offer a combinatio­n of touring through amazing scenic roads, interspers­ed with great food and accommodat­ion venues. Eligible cars are European manufactur­ed sports and twodoor GTs that are unique and with special characteri­stics that were manufactur­ed during the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Cars from the great marques such as Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo are typical along with even more unique brands. WHEELS AT WANAKA

If it has got wheels or tracks, it’ll be on display at Wheels at Wanaka. Everything from tractors and vintage farming equipment to classic cars, motorcycle­s and steam engines, plus a display of cars taking part in the Land Rover 75th Anniversar­y Rally. WHERE: TE KAWAU RECREATION CENTRE, WYE STREET, RONGOTEA Organised by the Lions Club of Rongotea & District, this show is open to all classics, future classics, vintage and veteran cars. Swap and boot sale, spot prizes, food and drinks available. Fun for all the family – open 10am to 2pm, public entry $10 or $25 for family (mum, dad and kids). Display entry $20 per vehicle. GEORGE BEGG FESTIVAL

WHEN: MARCH 30-APRIL 2

WHERE: TERETONGA PARK, INVERCARGI­LL Visitors are encouraged to attend in period dress in the celebratio­n of motor sport’s golden age – an event inspired by George Begg, the farmer who turned engineer and built a series of racing cars that took on the best the world had to offer. Expect a large turnout of Begg racing cars, plus lots of classic racing on track. The event starts with the George Begg Long Lunch on Thursday, followed by a mystery car run. On Friday there will be an official welcome function at Bill Richardson Transport World, with track practice at Teretonga Park. Saturday and Sunday will be the days to catch some of the best classic racing in NZ. For more info visit:

ELLERSLIE INTERMARQU­E CONCOURS

WHERE: ELLERSLIE RACECOURSE, GREENLANE, AUCKLAND Postponed from its original February date due inclement weather, Auckland’s biggest classic car show, including the Intermarqu­e Concours d’Elegance, is always a good day out.
