Keep birds off early straw­ber­ries by cov­er­ing with bird net­ting, or Haxnicks Easy Net Tun­nels if yours are planted in neat rows. Reg­u­larly pick ripe fruit to en­cour­age plants to con­tinue to flower and pro­duce for as long as pos­si­ble through sum­mer. Add a layer of straw be­neath plants to pre­vent fruit rot­ting by com­ing into con­tact with soil.
