For­age for in­gre­di­ents for savoury crack­ers, flower-filled bis­cuits and berry treats – no one is ever dis­ap­pointed to be the re­cip­i­ent of home­made foods. Pack­age gifts in la­belled jars or boxes lined with pat­terned wax pa­per or re­us­able fab­ric… just buy pretty cloth from a fab­ric shop, cut to size and hem!


This berry dessert is ideal for sum­mer gar­den par­ties.

In­gre­di­ents: • 2 2/3 cups raspberries • 1/3 cup sugar • 2 egg whites • 2 tea­spoons le­mon juice • 1 cup ic­ing sugar. Purée half the raspberries, press through a sieve and bring to the boil with sugar. Sim­mer 3-4 min­utes. Re­move from heat and cool. Pre­heat oven to 130°C and line a bak­ing tray with bak­ing pa­per. Whisk egg whites with le­mon juice un­til stiff, grad­u­ally adding the ic­ing sugar. Beat un­til glossy. Fold in some of the berry purée to colour. Spoon into a pip­ing bag. Ar­range re­main­ing berries on bak­ing tray and pipe meringue on top. Bake in oven for 40 min­utes un­til meringues are crispy. Turn off heat, open door and leave meringues un­til cold.

Serve with ic­ing sugar and puréed berries.
