The flow­ers of weld (Reseda lu­te­ola) pro­duce vari­ants of le­mon yel­low to green yel­low. Weld was the pre­ferred com­mer­cial yel­low in the medieval pe­riod. The fa­mous medieval colour Lin­coln green (as­so­ci­ated with Robin Hood) was a mix of woad and weld, ob­tained by first dy­ing with woad then overdy­ing with weld.
