Dahlia ‘Hillcrest Royal’

This is an old cactus variety with almost electric pink flowers which glow as the sun sets. Like all double flowers, individual blooms last longer than those of single varieties though they are less attractive to pollinators.

Dahlias often need hefty staking, good soil and plenty of water, but the results are a bumper flowering period, whether you go for a single sweety, a turbo-charged showoff or something just totally bonkers.
