Fuchsia excorticata

NZ Gardener - - IN SEASON -

Fuchsias have traditionally been prized for their berries by indigenous peoples all over the world, including Maori¯ who valued the fruits of the tree fuchsia, a deciduous native plant. All parts of the fuchsia are edible and those flowers which kids love to pop open in bud can be popped onto a salad for a colourful, healthy garnish. Tests suggest that those Christmas-y red and purple petals are packed with anthocyanins.
