KATE ERICKSEN MOTUEKA
During last year’s nationwide lockdown, Kate and husband Jay built a shed “for potting up plants and as a relaxation space”. Unable to buy roofing material at level 4, they made wedge shingles from timber offcuts. The building’s curves meant Jay had to build a steamer to bend timber. They plumbed in an old bath too. “The water drains into the attached greenhouse and waters our raspberries,“Kate says.
