Premier Seeds enters New Zealand lettuce market
In 2015 Bejo seeds purchased Agrisemen, an independent Dutch vegetable breeding company specialising in lettuce breeding. This purchase has enabled Premier Seeds to enter the lettuce market here in New Zealand. Over the last two years, we have undertaken an iceberg lettuce trial programme in the key lettuce growing regions, looking at the new Iceberg material from Bejo. We are now very happy to offer a year round iceberg lettuce programme. Bejo varieties come with resistance to Bremia 16-33 and our newer varieties are resistant to Nasonovia. Our summer variety Brice is our first iceberg variety with Fusarium resistance.
