Nadine Tunley honoured
Former NZ Apples & Pears chair Nadine Tunley was honour at the Horticulture Conference last month.
Nadine has been a director of NZ Apples & Pears for eight years and was appointed chair in August 2012. Her leadership and hard work was credited for helping the industry well on its way to $1 billion by 2020.
As one of her first initiatives as chair, Nadine worked with board and management to establish a new strategic plan for the industry. In 2013 the clear plan was set around key drivers of industry success, including trade and marketing access and seasonal employment, with an overarching communications plan to tell the pipfruit story. The awards ceremony was told that the recent success of the industry was down to this good planning supported by orchardist working collaboratively with industry body NZ Apples & Pears. Nadine’s leadership throughout was tangible, real and effective. She leads from the front, insists on high standards and took on the difficult tasks herself. The meeting was told Nadine’s outstanding leadership skills were critical to the success apples and pears have enjoyed over the past eight years.
