HIT THE BEACH

Art director Richard Brunton is more than impressed by Michael Kavanagh’s Auckland holiday home. “It is literally right on the water,” he says. “The place is unique – the tide comes right up to the house.” Even for our summer issue, full of all sorts of lovely coastal homes, this one was a sure thing for the cover. “It’s quintessentially New Zealand with the pohutukawa, and really encapsulates that holiday feeling.” Sure does. For such an inspirational location it’s a place we can all relate to, and that easy, casual vibe meant we could just turn up and shoot it and all we needed to bring was our beach towels.
