WELLINGTON
TE OMANGA WAKAHUIA
Moving their retail operation into a warehouse in the light industrial area of Petone makes good sense for the fundraising arm of the Hutt’s hospice, which still has a presence in the Lower Hutt CBD. More space, lots of light and fortnightly Saturday garage sales in their “treasure box” opposite the food warehouse On Trays should all help the cause. 41 Fitzherbert St, Petone, (04) 979 6681, teomanga.org.nz
JULIET TE FLORIST
After operating out of Kelburn since 1980, Juliette has moved downtown into a space in front of Mau Hairdressing, next to Antrim House. Owner Karen Pearce worked at Juliette for five years before buying it last year and treasures her longestablished client base. As well as the usual bunches and bouquets she offers workshops, including private group classes. 69-71 Boulcott St, (04) 939 9797, julietteflorist.co.nz
BICYCLE JUNCTION
This coolest little bike shop and cafe, just along from the hospital, is now three years old. They had 150 turn out for their recent Need for Tweed event, celebrating an era when two-wheeling ladies and gentlemen ruled the roads. Owner Dan Mikkelson has also set up trishaws in rest homes around the country and offers an eye-catching variety of cargo bikes, once a standard method of transporting goods. 5 Riddiford St, Newtown, (04) 389 3893, bicyclejunction.co.nz
