Q&A

NZ House & Garden - - HOMES -

My decorating style is: Very informed by English interiors. Charming and inspiring, comfortable and sophisticated… always with a little bit of wit. Rooms should have personality.

Best decorating tip: I wouldn’t paint a room navy. Best money tip: Cry once. Invest in things that you love.

Best thing about the renovation: No more white walls, and the wall-to-wall sisal.

Best money spent: Antiques, books and really good lamps – they go with you when you leave.

The thing I want to change next around the house: The bathrooms.

Favourite new find: A brass scallop ceiling light that I have just ordered for the living room. Favourite family treasures: Photographs and my grandmother’s pale pink table linen.

Flowers I couldn’t live without: Peonies and David Austin roses from my mother’s garden. Jessica Close
