Claire Crosbie, Auckland
It’s hard to believe this hallway is in a Total Span barn that’s been converted into a home on Auckland’s North Shore. It feels as if you’ve stepped back into pre-1920s Paris, says Claire Crosbie. And that’s exactly what she wanted. Pink sets the tone: “In Europe, pink’s been around for years. It gives a sort of moodiness, especially at night. It’s a soothing colour.”
It feels as if I’ve gone back in time: “I love the eclectic bohemian feel of Europe, especially Venetian and French styles. In Europe they don’t have a set style, everybody does what they want.” Nothing matches: “That’s exactly how I like it. There are three sets of doors, from Egypt, Paris and India, as well as a hand-painted Victorian window.
“Here’s a hallway that has been transformed into something much more than a thoroughfare. The clever use of pink and green and eclectic collection of treasures makes this a notable space.”
