Taipa

NZ House & Garden - - NOTED -

If hanging out in replica European cities in the casinos of the Cotai Strip gets a bit much, head to nearby Taipa Village for a reality check. The warren of narrow lanes are lined with pastel-coloured colonial buildings, Chinese shop fronts, ancient temples and, in typical Macanese fashion, some seriously good bakeries and fusion restaurants. On Rua do Cunha (aka Food Alley) you’ll find the legendary Lord Stow’s Bakery, famous for its Portuguese egg tarts. All roads lead to revered Portuguese restaurant Antonio where you can enjoy a “P&T” (white port and tonic) before tucking into traditional fare to the tune of the in-house fado musician.
