Special effects
She’s a painter through and through, so there is no wallpaper in Greer’s home. Instead she creates texture and visual interest through a fresco paint effect. “It’s subtle and has a slightly organic feel,” she says. To create the look she trowels on a Porter’s Paint product similar to fine plaster. This is followed by sanding and trowelling on a lighter colour top coat. To finish it’s waxed and polished. It took her about a week to do two bathrooms and the fireplace in the living area. “I like being able to do it myself. It feels more personal.” Greer’s creative touches are seen throughout the house. In the living room one of her artworks has been digitised and printed onto sheer curtain fabric. The original plan for grey linen curtains was abandoned: “I’m so pleased I went with this because it’s brought in the colour so well; it plays quite a pivotal role in the colour palette of the space.”
