THE WINE STATION
A heritage railway building provides The Wine Station with plenty of charm, and Italian technology provides it with plenty of wine. The station offers 80 wines from 35 wineries by the glass, thanks to machines that temperature-control, protect and pour. If that thought doesn’t warm your heart, the vintage furnishings, gourmet platters and fireside couches will.

PICTON LIBRARY
Māori legend and nautical history find common ground at Waitohi Whare Mātauranga. Athfield Architects gave the new library a “vessel” form, with curved walls and raking columns, and it pays tribute to Te Atiawa iwi’s reverence for the albatross with a line of wooden “feathers” beneath the roofline.
