Q&A

NZ House & Garden - - GARDENS -

Hours spent in the garden: In the summer I’m in the garden most nights after work and we don’t even have dinner until 8 o’clock. (Diane)

During daylight saving I come home on a Friday and do the lawns and edges. Twice a year in the valley I weed-eat the whole property, a total of more than 40 hours each time. (John)

Favourite plant combination: Bird of paradise and mondo grass. (Diane)

Plants that grow well here: Everything has gone berserk. (Diane)

We are forever chopping things back. (John)

My best tip for other gardeners: Keep on top of it. The valley has got away from us again, so we have to spend some hours down there. (John)
