On-trend rattan spices up a vase collection

To make: We bought our natural rattan from a furniture upholsterer and applied a light coating of wood stain as the colour was a little yellow. Choose straight-sided vases (try for a group of varying heights if you’re doing more than one). Cut rattan to size. Using very small dots of hot glue on the rattan, wrap around the vase and secure the join at the back with more hot glue. The easiest way to do this is to place the rattan on a flat surface and roll the vase along it, gluing as you go. The details: Oak sideboard $3209 from Leopold Hall, leopoldhall.co.nz; Nova lamp $280 from Babelogue, babelogue.shop; Skultuna Boule vase $260, Curio Noir parfum $265 and Curio Noir candle $195, all from Simon James Concept Store, simonjamesdesign.com; oxidised bowl $32 and jellyfish sculpture $89, both from BoConcept, boconcept.co.nz; Osborne & Little Vernazza wallpaper from Seneca, seneca.co.nz; floral arrangements by Greenpoint Studios, greenpoint.co.nz.
