Q&A

NZ House & Garden - - HOMES - Jason Bonham

Proudest DIY achievement: I hang all my own art literally by eye. I get all of the things I love and just merge to create interesting scenes. I’m not a DIY guy – I use my tried and trusted tradespeople to do the jobs I can’t.

Best money I ever spent: My Tout Va Bien credenza. It’s a very practical item, as I use it for a lot of storage, but it’s also an art piece. Investment furniture is where it’s at. Buy once, buy right. Bugger the cost. I want things to look great for a lifetime.

My happiest day in this house: Getting the sofas delivered. It was a great day having a rug and something to sit on after months of no furniture. When my last house sold the new owners bought everything! This weekend I will be: Going to Italy for a wedding in San Gimignano. I’m so excited to be able to go. So many things to see and do, the food, art, architecture, markets, shopping, adventures with friends. I always get so inspired when travelling; it opens my mind and allows me to re-energise creatively.

In the next 10 years I’d like to: Build a home in the country, a place to house and display my art. I want a weekend escape from the city.
