Wine­maker Si­mon Pearce has moved from Perth to Tau­ranga and set up The Cider Fac­to­rie, which has a restau­rant and cel­lar door. The ciders are el­e­gant, slightly ef­fer­ves­cent and tasty. My favourites were pear and fei­joa. Si­mon’s labour of love is his Méth­ode Tra­di­tionelle cider made from ei­ther ap­ple or pear, the­cider­fac­to­rie.co.nz.
