Proudest DIY moment: Bruce painted the entire inside of the house himself. It took him months of standing on scaffolding. The beamwork was meticulously done – a professional-level finish we're both so pleased with.

Biggest debate: The snug paint colour. Bibby & Brady suggested a deep blue colour and it took some convincing (mostly Bruce). They were of course right – the deep colour creates a warm and cosy space.

We finish our work days: Sitting outside in our yard with our four rescue bunnies.

A must-do when you visit the area: Te Awanga Estate Winery presents bands during the summer. Just rock up on a Sunday afternoon with a picnic, buy a bottle of wine, and enjoy.
