YELLOW IS FORBIDDEN
If you missed it at the International Film Festival, NZ-born film-maker Pietra Brettkelly’s intimate documentary on fashion designer Guo Pei is having a limited nationwide release. Best known to westerners for dressing Rihanna in an extravagant gold thread and fox-fur dress at the 2015 Met Gala, the designer grew up during the Chinese Cultural Revolution where such a creative career was banned. It’s been a remarkable rise to fame. In cinemas nationwide from 1 November.
