CLUED-UP ON CRUISING

-

I’m a great fan of travelling light but not particularly good at it. Definitely take a light rain jacket and a sleeveless puffer. Exercise gear is handy if you want to use the on-board gym and also if you’re going to take any of the biking, hiking or kayaking options on offer. You won’t need body moisturiser, shampoo or conditioner – an endless supply of L’Occitane products is standard on all Avalon ships. Do take a hat and sunblock if you plan on lying about on the deck, and togs for the spa. The dress code is relaxed, so smart casual covers all the bases. Judy Bailey travelled as a guest of Avalon Waterways.
