PROMENADE PLANTÉE

Winding for 4.5km from the Bastille to the Bois de Vincennes, this converted mid-19th century viaduct that rises up to 10m above street level became the world’s first elevated park walkway in 1993. You’ll pass artisan showrooms, an art deco-style police station topped with a dozen sculpted male nudes, gardens, pools and public squares as you follow the path lined with cherry trees and maples and rose and lavender bushes. Leave enough time to explore the Bois de Vincennes, a former royal hunting ground, with its castle and boating lake and the quintessentially Parisian Marché d’Aligre.
