Subtle contrasts

Using warm and cool colours – elegantly

- See resene.co.nz/colorshops

Colours are often classified as warm or cool: warm colours are uplifting shades like yellow, orange and red whereas cool colours are calming tones like blue and green. One way to bring more excitement to a scheme, whether it’s inside or out, is to combine both with your Resene colour palette. For example, the structural elements of this dreamy outdoor space are in cool white and pale green. It’s then enhanced by a warm-coloured stained deck, a Marseille tiled roof and an orange throw. This type of space would work equally well with, for example, a pale dusky blue like Resene Duck Egg Blue, enriched with mustard yellows.
