NZ House & Garden

Glamorous 7

Gone are the days of bathrooms only being functional; why not decorate a bathroom as lavishly as you would the rest of the house? This one, in the 100-year-old renovated Tauranga bungalow of Rosie Blockley from La Belle Maison, is “all about creating soul,” she says. “The layering of furniture and objects in this dark moody room is very invigorating. The best feature is the fully antiqued dark mirror glass wall, aged by hand, that sits behind the bath and cut into old Venetian glass panels with oversized brass studs. Its reflection allows the room to feel twice its size and illuminates the crystal chandelier.” A freestanding clawfoot bath and brass tapware add to the feeling of opulence, the pedestal basin “is the ultimate space saver”, and the black, white and brass scheme is strikingly elegant.
