Brown is back. Not since the 1970s have we seen brown in its true form – warm and dense. According to Brenda Ngatai of Resene these browns are complex with spirited undertones and are rich with nostalgia but also have: “a utilitarian look, designed to be useful and practical, a look that is carried through with colours such as military green and leathery browns.” Joining darker browns are terracottas and spicy tones like paprika and cinnamon, along with brick and scorched reds. Of course, one of the most dominant “browns” in a scheme is timber which has moved on from the smoky grey tones of recent years to timbers with richer, warm undertones.
