LIGHT LAYERS
A room will benefit from many levels of lighting – general, task and accent, says Donna. General lighting allows you to navigate a room safely: a decorative ceiling pendant, recessed downlights, track or wall-mounted fixtures. Table and floor lamps are types of task lighting, allowing you to read a book, for example. Directional downlights are also used for task lighting. Accent lights are used to focus light on an area, or an object like art or an architectural feature. Common types are wall lights, directional downlights, uplights and track lighting. Use separate circuits for each type of lighting for the best effect.
