The New Zealand International Science Festival
6 to 15 July, Dunedin Dunedin is party central for the curiosities of science as the city rolls out a cache of cutting- edge local and international researchers, engineers, scientists, thinkers and presenters – and an agenda of 150 events. The theme is ‘Go Beyond’ and guests at the biennial festival include young British space systems engineer Sian Cleaver, Australian science communicator Dr Graham Walker, leading Maori astronomer Dr Rangi Matamua of Tuhoe, Auckland psychologist Nigel Latta and NAO – a leading humanoid robot from China. From the cognitive science of fake news and the Maori creation and origins of the universe to astrophotography and how to make a water rocket, it’s game on for science. scifest.org.nz
