Rekindle
The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora, Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch Resourceful craft and green woodworking are to the fore with social enterprise Rekindle’s new presence in the restored western end of the Arts Centre. Rekindle previously transformed earthquakerelated demolition waste into furniture and useful wares, and now promotes sustainable, traditional craft through workshops – from stool-making to harakeke weaving and string-making with cabbage-tree leaves. Rekindle recently crafted a communal table and benches for the historic Boys’ High building using ash logs from Hagley Park destined for wood chipping. rekindle.org.nz, artscentre.org.nz
