FEEDBACK ON INSTAGRAM
@baydreamernz via Instagram Interesting read in @ thisnzlife’s NZ Life & Leisure magazine. I love the acknowledgement that the plastic bag ban is a step in the right direction and calls upon a larger change in consumer behaviour. The ban will pressure our retailers to use alternatives — some may choose bioplastics which seem like a good alternative, but also have harmful eff ects on our environment; others will choose cotton or synthetic totes which may be used as single- use items anyway. The article states, “A major UK study undertaken by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Aff airs found that a cotton tote bag would have to be used 173 times to impact the environment less than a plastic bag used once.” Thus, it’s how we are consuming that is aff ecting our environment the most. Get prepared, get organized, and recycle and reuse.
