STANLEY PALMER AND HANNAH KIDD
13 December to 13 January, The Central Art Gallery, The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora, Christchurch
Themes of conservation, colonization and coastline are to the fore in a cache of 10 works by Auckland-based painter and printmaker Stanley Palmer featuring Ōnawe Peninsula in Akaroa Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf. Palmer is renowned for his expressive landscapes, which embody the physical essence of Aotearoa. Mid- Canterbury-based sculptor Hannah Kidd joins Palmer’s show with a selection of works crafted in steel and corrugated iron that demonstrate her hallmark witticism and focus on birds and animals. thecentral.co.nz
