Cat­tle, sheep, goats and al­paca of­ten suf­fer liver dam­age, but won’t show signs (known as sub-clin­i­cal FE). It’s a very se­ri­ous sit­u­a­tion if they do start to show phys­i­cal symp­toms, such as: sun­burn shade-seek­ing be­hav­iour jaun­dice There is no treat­ment for the liver dam­age caused by FE. Talk to your vet about how to boost meta­bolic func­tion, pain re­lief or eu­thana­sia op­tions. Help an­i­mals feel more com­fort­able by: pro­vid­ing shade and clean, fresh wa­ter feed­ing a low pro­tein diet (hay, silage) ad­min­is­ter­ing vi­ta­min B12 sup­ple­ments (which may help the liver)
