10 out of 10
Warren's home is just the third in NZ to gain a coveted 10 Homestar rating.
Homestar is a comprehensive, independent, national rating tool that measures the health, warmth, and efficiency of NZ houses. Most existing NZ homes would only achieve a 2-3 Homestar rating. Most new homes, which are typically built to the minimum standards of the Building Code, would achieve a 3-4.
The best homes are rated on a 6-10 scale. A 6 Homestar (or higher) house will be warmer, drier, healthier, and have power bills approximately half those of the typical new build (3-4 Homestar).
A 10 Homestar rating is a worldleading house in terms of warmth and efficiency, with minimal waste and environmental impact. www.nzgbc.org.nz/homestar
