ABOUT MOTH PLANT

-

Araujia hortorum was introduced to New Zealand in the late 19th century.

“It's one of many vines that was once beautiful in the garden until it decided to jump to random places and strangle trees,” says Richard.

The fast-growing evergreen vine can grow up to eight metres high.

It's mostly found in the North Island, thanks to its preference for a warm climate.

STAMP now has 8000 locations logged in its system. When members had to stop checking areas during the Level 4 lockdown this year, they still kept adding new sightings they spotted while taking their daily exercise.
