CHRIS SAHOTA’S

SR22 S14

-

After a mishap at Pukekohe Park Raceway saw his first S14 left, well, let’s say worse for wear, this body was purchased as a simple re-shell project. But, as the story often goes, things quickly took a different course, and Chris now has a stroked 2.2-litre SR that is home to a back catalogue of Tomei parts. We’re talking a Tomei stroker crank, forged pistons, forged rods, camshafts, cam gears, oversized valves, springs, valve guides, and solid lifters all packed into the long block! He told us that although he never intended to go stroked, when pricing up the cost of forging the bottom end using Tomei parts, it wasn’t going to be an absurd amount more to do it, and if it were ever to be done then that was the time — so down that route he went.

Holding the bottom end intact is a Plazmaman billet girdle–and– main cap combo, while the intake side of things involves a Hypertune inlet manifold, throttle body, and intercooler, with an A’PEXi power intake, and, of course, a Garrett GTX3071R twin-scroll turbo. In the fuel department sits a set of Injector Dynamics 1700cc injectors inside a Hypertune billet fuel rail, fed by twin Walbro pumps pulling from the gnarly Industries SP800 surge tank that comprises the rear-end fuel system. With the intention of putting it back on track and no doubt dabbling in a bit of skid racing, Chris made sure to treat the steering and suspension components to a Parts Shop Max birthday in the form of front knuckles, a front lower arm–tension rod combo, rear upper control arms, toe arms, tension rods, rear lower control arms, solid subframe risers, and solid diff bushes. With all that, and a shitload more killer bits packed into it, Chris wasn’t about to let the outside be any less steezy. The car wears a gaggle of Origin Labo, Chargespeed, and custom pieces that have been given the GT Refinishers treatment inside and out. The engine bay and roll cage are coated in luscious layers of House of Kolor candy apple red over metal flake, while the outside has been resprayed in the factory black. Even the rocker cover sports a custom number with an eye-catching love-heart candy finish. This is one streeter that has been built right.
