RUFCNT REWORK

-

Ryan Dorricott, of Tauranga’s Dynopower, is busy adding the final touches to his reworked FD RX-7 in lieu of his debut D1NZ Pro-Sport season. Having contested a single round last year, Ryan will make the full season leap as one of the only rotaries in the field.

But don’t for a second think that he will be at a disadvantage, as ‘RUFCNT’ packs some serious punch from its 13B, having previously made 510kW on 30psi before a raft of off-season changes. “It wasn’t like the car lacked power; we just really wanted to push the limits of this 13B / BorgWarner 9180 combination to show customers what we can do,” explained Ryan.

The upgrades include CNC bridgeporting, a CNC ported Cosmo intake, four-inch stainless exhaust, stainless equal-length manifold, new custom radiator and oil cooler, four 2400cc Siemens injectors, and a Link G4+ Fury. The boys plan to make full use of the Fury’s data-logging capabilities with dual wideband; dual exhaustgas temperature (EGTs); turbo back pressure; turbo speed; and, on the suspension side of things, even shock travel sensors to squeeze every last piece of engine and suspension performance from the RX-7.

The suspension package includes modified XYZ coilovers, custom arms, and Wisefab front lock kit. The front end has been tube-framed and the car will have a fresh lick of red before it hits the track for testing later this year. Ryan would like to thank Dynopower, Link ECU, and his brother Dion for help with the project. He is also on the lookout for other sponsors for the upcoming season.
