GOD’S MOTOR KE70

-

Jayden Spearpoint, a bloke from Tauranga, hit us up with his KE70 DX sedan drift car that is currently in the works for some serious seat-time. Initially, he was working on a four-door KE70 GL wagon that he was also building as a drift car, but his attention shifted when he came across a DX sedan that popped up on Facebook Marketplace.

The sedan was sold as a rolling body which had some goodies such as a Hilux diff, rear coil springs, factory four-link suspension, and rack and pinion, giving him a head start into building the perfect drift car. Moving to the sedan chassis was a wise move, as the body was straighter and rust-free, leading him to eventually flick off the wagon to fund his sedan. Jayden sent the car over to Zac from Endeavour Engineering to work his magic on fabricating an eight-point roll-cage as well as some brackets to run a rear dual-calliper setup and traction brackets. Zac also converted the rear axles from 5 stud to 4 stud (4x114.3). Jayden decided a Cusco 2-Way will be spinning the rear wheels, and for those weight-reduction points, he made the choice to install an alloy firewall and parcel tray.

The next step for Jayden is to prepare the SR20DE before dropping it into the engine bay. He plans to give it a birthday with a new steel head gasket, clamping it down with some ARP head studs, and for the hot side of things, he’s installing a Pulsar 5449G turbo paired with a MaxxECU to keep everything under control. If all goes to plan, Jayden’s hoping to have it “making all the good noises early next year along with some spirited driving”.
