RECRUITMENT BALANCE

Like last year, the volume of traffic is tiny but the Jaguares have made one significant move – they have hired Mario Ledesma as head coach.

This dude is wildly emotional but he’s also a smart operator and having been with the Wallabies for the last four years, he’ll be coming home with some good ideas.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TACTICALLY?

They will persevere with the transition to a more expansive game but we suspect that they will also spend a little more attention on their set piece. Any team coached by Ledesma is going to be competitive in the scrum.

GUT FEEL – RISERS OR FALLERS?

The Pumas fell a long way in 2017 and we think some of that will be reflected in the Jaguares. Confidence is low and they have such a horrid travel schedule that everything is against them.

They might have one more year to struggle before they finally come good.

WHERE WILL THEY FINISH?

We’d like to see them make their presence felt and sit in the upper half of the table. But we can’t see it happening this year.
