44 SUPER SWITCH PLAY

-

The third Bledisloe in Yokohama wasn’t quite poised on a knife edge after 60 minutes but at 20-13 to the All Blacks, they needed one more score to break the Wallabies.

That duly came when, from a scrum, Kieran Read popped to Aaron Smith who passed to Beauden Barrett.

The All Blacks first-five was already heading back to the short side when he took the ball and fired it straight to Rieko Ioane.

The wing beat two defenders who weren’t expecting him and then he o³oaded to Barrett who had looped around.

It was a classic set-play try that the All Blacks had worked on all week.

“The coaches came and presented that idea at the start of the week and we trained it a few times but it never worked as well as it did out there which is pretty pleasing,” said Barrett.
