OLD DOG: SAM CANE

As strange as it feels to be listing a 26-year-old in the ‘old’ category, Sam Cane must take full grasp his leadership role in 2019. With Messam and Ngatai no longer with the team, the Chiefs have a young team. Cane, who has played more than 100 Super Rugby matches for the Chiefs, has more experience than anyone on the team and works his heart out for his squad. Cane led the team in tackles made and pilfers in 2018, and is always a willing ball carrier. He’ll be the one to set the standards for his team both on and o the field.
