Fullback Marshall o ers real brains and direction, which will aid Beauden Barrett’s gamedriving. Assuming Beauden and Jordie Barrett and Perenara all take spells during the season as well, Marshall is the guy to run things in their absence.

Bedwell-Curtis, meanwhile, is the type of big, no-nonsense forward the Hurricanes can really do with. It’s not hard to see him starting every week, either at blindside flanker or No 8.

Given Savea will start on one flank, and Gareth Evans is going to be very hard to leave out, it will be interesting to see what Bedwell-Curtis’ arrival means for Fifita.
