OLD DOG: RYAN CROTTY

When you talk about accuracy, decision-making and accountability at the Crusaders, several players come to mind but one of the most notable, especially in a relatively young backline, is Ryan Crotty. The 30-year-old, who has played 44 tests for the All Blacks, is known as Mr Dependable and while he o ers more than that – including a real threat with the ball, especially from close range – it is a fitting description. He is a superb organiser on defence and that’s where the Crusaders often launch their attacks from – counters from an opposition mistake caused by line speed and pressure.
