VALUE FOR MONEY..?

-

Many in France were quite right to ask whether $50,000 a month for Carter was a good value deal for Racing 92.

The French national team have tumbled a long way in the last decade and the key reason everyone believes is the influx of foreigners into their domestic league.

Quite often there won’t be a French qualified first-five starting in the Top 14 of a weekend and the decision to pay a 37-year-old former All Black all that money for a few months was questionable when for a fifth of the price, Racing could have given a younger French player a contract.

But then again is Carter worth it? He puts bums on seats and while he’s 37, he still has a bit of life left him in and was player of the year in Japan earlier this year.
