There was a reason he was called King Carlos – because he ruled Super Rugby for almost a decade. Nothing was off limits for Spencer he would try anything and mostly everything he did try, came off.

He brought the banana kick to Super Rugby. He brought the pass to himself and he brought smiles to everyone.

Spencer was a creative genius. He could find almost any way to break a defence and spend a bit of time on YouTube and you will see him kick directly over scrums. You will see him run crazy angles. You will see him step and dance through holes that weren’t there and you will see him pass the ball in unimaginable ways. He lit up the competition and the reason so many in Christchurch didn’t like him was because they knew he was a special talent.
